Stamford Logo Design

I started designing as a freelance designer through DesignCrowd.

I won the first competition I entered: designing a logo for a doctor opening a gastroenterology practice.

Flyer Design

As part of the Christian Union at university I have designed many flyers for events.

In doing so I have developed my Adobe Illustrator skills and ability.

Wedding Order of Service Design

I had the opportunity of using my graphic skills to design the order of service for my sister's wedding.

I used Photoshop and Illustrator to produce the front and back cover and designed the whole document to be folded in half once printed.

InDesign was used to produce the inside layout and I applied the required bleed and settings to produce a high quality print.

Website Design
Villa 81 Website Design

I designed a website for a privately owned villa for rent in the Algarve, Portugal.

I used Adobe Muse for the site and managed all of the domain and hosting myself.

The colour scheme and design style was chosen to match the location and content: namely a beach theme with a clean look.

GUFC Website Design

As publicity convenor for the Glasgow University Football Club I created a new website.

I used Wix as a hoster so that the next person who took on the role of Publicity Convenor could continue to edit the site easily.

Chubb Telecare
Website Mock-Up

As part of the Chubb Telecare group design project, see below, I made a mock up website for our final presentation.

I used Adobe Photoshop and Powerpoint to continually run the simulation of someone designing their own case.

The head person from Chubb asked if it was a real website which was testament to my website design and presentation skills.

Product Design

Human Factors Project

Last year I spent 3 months doing a human factors project at the Glasgow School of Art.

The brief was to re-design an existing fitness product for a chosen user group.

I gained a lot of experience of user interaction; researching user needs and getting feedback on my designs.

It was a rewarding project and one I found very interesting.

Adobe InDesign was used for page layout and presentation.

Chubb Telecare

In 4th year we worked with Chubb on a group project re-designing their personal care alarms.

Much work was done with users and we presented our final proposal at an exhibition in Forres.

I worked very well in the team, organising and planning the project.

I developed many skills including prototyping; taking the cases from rough 3D printed models to high quality finished products. I also produced a website mock-up (see above) and a video prototype of the purchasing process and user experience.

Queen's Baton Relay

In 3rd year we were tasked with designing the new Baton for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

This individual project required technical detail and aesthetic creativity.

It was an enjoyable project which allowed me to develop my drawing and rendering skills.

At the end we presented our proposals to the team who went on to design and manufacture the baton for the Commonwealth Games. This was exciting as our ideas and designs may have influenced the final baton form and aesthetics.

Coffee Stirrer Project

A few years ago I did a short Art School project to design a coffee stirrer.

It was a fun project and one in which my skills in prototyping and CAD could be developed.

I 3D printed my final prototype from the CAD file and finished it by hand sanding.

Drastic Plastic Project

The School of Art set a brief a couple of years ago to design anything that encouraged creativity and involved plastic. I found it difficult to focus on one route in which to concentrate on since the brief was so broad.

I ended up designing a foldable baking tray that could be moulded to any shape and then put in the oven.

I learned a lot of lessons from this project and developed my prototyping skills.
